If you’ve traveled through Denver International Airport (DIA) recently, you’ve likely noticed the massive renovations happening in Jeppesen Terminal. These updates are part of the Great Hall Program, a multi-phase project designed to modernize the airport and prepare it for the future. With over 80 million passengers expected to pass through DIA in 2025, these upgrades are essential to maintaining efficiency, security, and traveler experience.
The Great Hall Program aims to enhance safety, improve security, and create a more seamless passenger experience. The final phase of construction—known as the Completion Phase—is expected to wrap up by 2027, transforming the terminal into a world-class travel hub. Here’s what’s coming:
Eight new security lanes to accommodate international travelers.
Improved efficiency to streamline TSA screenings and reduce wait times.
Expanded seating areas for arriving passengers.
More essential amenities to improve comfort while waiting for baggage or transportation.
New dining and retail options, making layovers and waits more enjoyable.
One of the most exciting additions to the terminal will be “The Stars and the Cottonwood”, a 60-foot-tall sculpture featuring over 30,000 crystals. Designed by renowned artist Donald Lipski, this breathtaking piece will be installed at the south end of Jeppesen Terminal in 2027. Inspired by Colorado’s native cottonwood trees, the sculpture reflects DIA’s commitment to blending function with artistry, making it one of the most visually stunning airport spaces in the country.
DIA has long been one of the busiest airports in the U.S., serving as a key hub for domestic and international travel. As passenger numbers continue to grow, these renovations will ensure that security, efficiency, and traveler experience remain top priorities. With enhanced technology, modernized security lanes, and improved amenities, Denver is positioning itself as a global leader in airport innovation.
With completion expected by 2027, the Great Hall Program will redefine the way travelers experience DIA for decades to come. Whether you’re a frequent flyer or just passing through, these upgrades will make your journey smoother and more enjoyable.
