If you’re looking for a park that truly has it all, City Park is the place to start. As Denver’s largest urban park, spanning more than 300 acres, it blends wide-open green space, iconic cultural attractions, and ongoing improvements that keep it evolving year after year.

Whether you’re planning a weekend picnic, a morning run, or a full day exploring museums and the zoo, City Park delivers.

Where Is City Park?

Located just east of downtown Denver, City Park is easily accessible from neighborhoods like City Park West, Congress Park, and Park Hill.

Address: 2001 Steele St, Denver, CO
Pro tip: Head here at sunrise for one of the best skyline + mountain views in the city.

  • Expansive lawns perfect for picnics, sports, or relaxing
  • Tennis courts and athletic fields
  • A scenic network of walking and biking paths

✔️ City Park Playground (Completed Fall 2023)

A refreshed, modern playground space that’s become a go-to for families.

Current & Upcoming Projects (2025–2026)

City Park isn’t slowing down. Several exciting projects are underway or coming soon:

🌿 Living Land Project (Underway in 2026)

This thoughtful initiative focuses on environmental resiliency and honoring Native and Indigenous history.

Highlights include:

  • Converting the South Meadow into a native landscape
  • Enhancing the Lily Pond with culturally significant plantings
  • Creating a dedicated gathering and picnic space near the former east playground

🚶‍♀️ Waterway Improvements (Completed 2025)

Enhancements to the park’s waterway channel have improved flow, safety, and surrounding trail conditions.

🚴 Park Roadway & Loop Trail Improvements (Planned for Late 2026)

A big one to watch—this project aims to:

  • Improve traffic flow within the park
  • Add safer pedestrian and bike space
  • Introduce clearer signage and roadway organization

👉 There’s also a community open house on May 6, 2026 (5:00–6:30 PM at City Park Pavilion) if you want to weigh in on the design.
